It all started when the first-time parents and founders Rini Roshan Poomkudy and Roshan Poomkudy, ventured on a mission to find clothes for their little bundle of joy.
They shared that they faced “a maze of scratchy fabrics and sky-high price tags,” which led them to start their own brand. This left them puzzled and yearning for better access to children’s apparel. They identified a market gap in meeting the needs of both children and their parents. The pair aimed to create a space where high quality products could be found, amidst a convivial and familiar atmosphere. This determination led to the birth of Zach & Kiki, a brand that merges the ease of ready-to-wear with the bespoke charm of couture, ensuring that every piece is both stylish and comfortable.
This venture is backed by the Poomkudy Group, the parent company that has been an integral member of the business fraternity in South India for over 45 years. Poomkudy group s core value of relationship is also embodied into the creation of the brand and vision for future. Within just three years Zach & Kiki has won the “Best Apparel Brand” award at the KidsStopPress Awards 2023 surpassing more than 100 contenders from all over India. The Award was presented on 2nd April 2024 at ITC, Grand Central Mumbai by the KSP (KidsstopPress ), India’s leading discovery platform for parenting and baby care.
Zach and Kiki collections are reflections of the founders’ great passions in life: parenthood, sustainability, and travel. The brand offers premium kids’ wear for ages 1 to 6 and focuses on providing high quality apparel for kids with natural fabric that is both comfortable and skin-friendly. All designs are developed by an in-house team of creators and fashion enthusiasts, ensuring that every garment meets the highest standards of craftsmanship. The fabrics are treated & processed, printed and curated to meet standards set by the brand.
From the incorporation of branded buttons and zippers to the adoption of azo-free dyeing techniques, Zach and Kiki spares no effort in prioritising eco-friendly practices throughout their production process. As the founders eloquently put it, “like a mother’s love for her child, our products are crafted with warmth, affection and a lot of thought as well”. This sentiment underscores their mission to offer fashion that not only elevates style but also promotes sustainability and eco-consciousness.
Zach & Kiki is not just a brand but a movement. In April 2023, they launched their kids community called Zach & Kiki Tribe, which is gaining huge popularity among its loyal customers. Currently, the tribe has more than 100 adorable members and curates events , fun activities for their members instilling creativity , friendship and cherished memories among children and parents in addition to the brands various privileges.
Zach & Kiki has put forward an initiative in March 2024 named “Thrike” to promote sustainability and community support. What the future holds for Zach & Kiki?
The founders have ambitious plans for the future. “We aim to be present in at least 100 multi-brand outlets nationwide and open 25 Exclusive Brand Outlets (EBOs) over the next five years,” they shared. Their goal is “to scatter a little extra fun into every kid’s wardrobe and make sure they’re always the coolest cats on the block!”
